Winter transforms the Finnish Archipelago into another world.
The sea becomes a living landscape where open water, floating ice, frozen shorelines and snow-covered islands constantly reshape the route. One day you may paddle through calm mirror-like water beneath pale winter sunlight. Another day you may carefully move between drifting ice formations and frozen skerries.
This guided winter sea kayaking experience allows you to safely explore this extraordinary environment together with an experienced local sea kayaking guide.
No previous kayaking experience is required.
The pace and route are adapted according to weather, ice conditions and participant experience. First-time paddlers can enjoy a relaxed introduction, while experienced kayakers can enjoy more technical paddling and advanced winter conditions.
Throughout the day we stop on islands for hot drinks and lunch around a fire while experiencing one of the quietest seasons in the Archipelago Sea.
Winter sea kayaking is often surprisingly comfortable. You stay warm and dry in professional dry suits and high-quality equipment provided by Aavameri. This adventure can normally be arranged from December throughout March, often with a break in January to February when the sea might be frozen solid. We arrange this arctic kayaking day on demand, and we need to charge for a minumum of three persons to be able to arrange the day. If conditions change to such that the day cannot be arranged (no ice-free paddling waters available, too extreme conditions), we offer a full money refund.
The cost for this adventure is 210€ / person. For this on-demand adventure, we need to charge a minimum of three persons' price.
